Museum Stock Tasting, October 2015

While in town (Melbourne) recently for our 2015 Release Tasting, Russell and i had a chance to taste our museum stocks to see how they were travelling.  The tasting notes from this session are copied below for you, but overall they were all aging well and showing great varietal character.

Enjoy, Simon.

Museum Stock tasting Notes October 2015

2010 Riesling

Straw coloured hues. Just starting to show signs of aging. The nose is fragrant with hints of floral, honey, lanolin and minerality. Palate is dry, fresh, & zesty! Still has plenty of years to live.

2012 Semillon

Yellow/golden hues. The nose shows tropical fruits (honey dew and rock melon in particular) meshed with developed characters; honey and toast. Palate is dry, fresh, & zesty! Drinking well and will be interesting to see how long this wine lasts. Has a few years to go.

2006 Grenache Shiraz

Aged brick red hues. The nose displays leather, vanilla, cedar and forest floor – definitely showing its age but interesting none the less.  Palate is a little flat but still quite drinkable.

2007 Grenache Shiraz

Brick red hues. Black fruits on the nose intermingled with dusty aged characters similar to the 2006.  Palate is fresh and drinking well.

2008 Grenache Shiraz – 89 Halliday pts

Beautiful crimson/purple hues. The nose is fragrant; plums, raspberries, musk sticks, vanilla, white chocolate. Palate is fresh and dry. Possibly a little volatile on the finish.

2009 GSM- 94 Halliday pts

Plum red hues.  The nose is fresh/fruity; plums, vanilla, chocolate. Palate is rich, dry, fruity/luscious. Still has plenty of years to live.

2010 GSM- 91 Halliday pts

Plum red hues. Masked fruit on the nose, earthy, maybe bretty? Palate is fresh and drinking fine. Certainly different to others but drinking OK and fine to sell.

2011 Grenache Shiraz- 93 Halliday pts

Pale red/crimson hues. The nose is fresh/fragrant; cherries and red berries. Palate is fresh & lively. Drinking really well.

2010 Cabernet Merlot - 93 Halliday pts

Brick red/crimson hues. The nose screams out Cabernet; currants, cassis, cedar, cigar box and spices. Palate is spot on, fine tannins give a dry finish. A cracking wine with plenty of life yet.

2005 Nebbiolo

Brick red/orange hues. The nose is intriguing, old boots, aged, volatile? Palate has grainy tannins typical of Nebb.

2009 Nebbiolo - 90 Halliday pts

Pale brick red hues. The nose is fragrant; spicy, cedar, hickory. Palate is soft yet tannic. Pleasant savoury finish.
