Tasting Notes

Tasting:  The fruit for this wine has been sourced from old McLaren Vale vines to ensure great intensity of flavours. The nose is fragrant and complex. Aromas of dried flowers, strawberries and plums are underlined with hints of white pepper. The palate is medium bodied, soft dry tannins linger on a warm finish.

“From various sites across the Vale, with an average vine age of 60 years; 65/25/10% grenache/shiraz/mourvèdre; 12 months in old French puncheons. Fruit forward, a summer pudding of brambly berries, along with Bing cherries and cranberry jelly. There are also some flashes of violet and hints of iodine, toasted nori and pepper, tempering and complexing the upfront fruitfulness, fine tannin and relatively brisk acidity giving further definition. Fun drinking, yet with engaging detail.”
— Marcus Ellis - James Halliday Wine Companion
“Deep ruby red with purple tints at the rim. Rich nose of mulberry preserve and mocha. The palate is big, rich and generous on entry, with ripe mulberry, blueberry compote, dark chocolate and vanilla notes all in abundance. It carries it well, though, with grainy tannins ensuring it’s controlled and flowing, and a long, weighty finish with a fine, dry completion..” - 92 points”
